SIID Moves from Global College to the Faculty of Science at UW

The Summer Institute in Infectious Diseases (SIID) was the brain-child of Hon. Dr. Lloyd Axworthy (University of Winnipeg President and Vice-Chancellor), and Hon. Dr. Rey Pagtakhan, the Founding Director of the Global College. SIID was hosted by the Global College until February 2011, when it was mutually agreed by the Global College Principal, Dr. Marilou McPhedran, and the Chair of the Chemistry Department, Dr. Desiree Vanderwel, to have it moved to the Faculty of Science.

Infectious Diseases, Health Policy and Vulnerable Populations (SIIDIV) June 6 – 10, 2011

In Partnership with the University of Manitoba, Prairie Women’s Health Centre of Excellence, and International Centre for Infectious Diseases

Unique Opportunity

The SIIDIV program offers a unique opportunity for students, practitioners and policy analysts alike. The students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels will receive course credit, whereas the practitioner, researcher and policy analyst will find the program to be a comprehensive refresher course. This program’s special learning environment will incorporate learning about issues of contemporary importance in Infectious Diseases, Health Policy and Vulnerable Populations, with a focus including gender and the Aboriginal peoples in Canada.
